English Board At Heguri Junior High

By creating this English board I hope to inspire the students to create connections between their lives and the rest of the world, using English. I hope they will see that learning English is both useful and fun and that they are both citizens of Heguri, Japan, and important citizens of the world. I think that part of the students' journey of discovery is not just learning about other countries, but also seeing how inspiring and important Japanese culture is outside of Japan. For this reason I want to highlight things from the English speaking world, but also music, art, literature and other aspects of Japanese culture that are well-known and important around the world. Mostly though, I want to make learning English as enjoyable as possible. It takes a long time and a lot of work to learn another language, so it helps to find ways to make it more playful and entertaining along the way.

生徒の皆さんが自分たちの生活と世界と繋ぐきっかけになってほしいと願いを込めて、この英語ボードを作りました。

英語の学習はあなたにとって役に立ち、とても楽しいものです。また、英語を通して地元平群や日本そして世界にとってかけがえのない「あなた」だということに気づいてほしいと願っています。

また、外国について学ぶことで、日本文化が諸外国からどのように評価されているかを知ってほしいため、日本の音楽、芸術や文学などにも注目していきたいと思っています。

そして、なによりも英語の学習を楽しんでほしいと思っています。日本語以外の言語を習得するには時間と努力が必要です。だからこそ、楽しみながら学べる方法を見つけていきましょう。
